Join Chris Meyer for an in-depth discussion in this video Case study: Reading text, part of Editing and Animating to Sound with Adobe After Effects.
I'd like to walk you through one more case study before we get back to actual exercises. …One of the biggest challenges in animating to music is making sure that …there is time to read text. Now you don't have text very often in say …dramatic television or films, but you will have it quite often if you're doing …infographics, training videos, trade show videos, etc. …This is a project we did for a video card company called XFX. …They wanted to attract people into the booth during trade shows. …And this is the text that they wanted us to have on screen.…
During the introductory part of this video. …The question is how to timeout this text across the soundtrack. …I'm going to preview the soundtrack for you while this block of text is on the screen. …And go ahead and practice reading the text while the music's playing. …This is a wonderful piece of stock music, by the way, by the good folks over at …Video Helper. From their Popzilla collection. …It has a lot of energy, and was really appropriate for a video gaming culture. …
In this course, Chris Meyer teaches you how to "read" an audio waveform to spot the most interesting points to animate to, and then presents a variety of ideas for cutting video and animating movements to match your soundtrack. This includes timing transitions, making staccato cuts, matching the frame rate to the tempo, wiggling in time, expressing animations to sound, motion sketching to music, and more. Although these tricks will be demonstrated inside Adobe After Effects, the techniques themselves are applicable to virtually any editing or animation package.
This course was created and produced by Chris and Trish Meyer. We are honored to host this content in our library.
