Black and white conversion method 2
- Another method of creating black and white is to use the channel mixer. It behaves a lot like the black and white effect but it offers a little bit more flexibility for certain things that really allow us to create the balance between the different color areas. Let's apply the channel mixer to an adjustment layer and you'll see what I mean. Let's take advantage of two effects here. The first one is going to be the channel mixer. This is a very advanced effect, but it allows you to start to mix what's going to happen. From the preset menu here I'm just going to choose grayscale three and it dials in some values here of pushing down the different sliders. But what I can do here is start to mix these. And so you see that it's changing the overall balance. We're still getting a grayscale image, but what happens is different parts of the image are coming through.
