Join Lee Lanier for an in-depth discussion in this video Batch rendering render layers, part of VFX Techniques: Space Scene 01: Maya Animation and Dynamic Simulation.
…Once you have render layers set up, you're…free to batch render those and, create image sequences.…Now, we still need layers for our ship, and…the asteroid but, we're going to save that for later.…Let's go ahead and test this, and see how these layers work right now.…And prior to that, I am going to go to render settings window one more time.…And just to save time, just for this video, I'm going to…change the animation extension to, name the extension for a single frame.…We're just going to test one frame.…And now I can go to the Rendering menu set > Render > Batch Render.…It's going to show me the progress down here on the Command Line.…
And I can see more information if I go…to the Script Editor through this shortcut right here.…It's going to tell me the percentage of each frame.…Where it is.…And also where it is rendering to. After you set project option,…it's going to give you the images in a folder it creates called images.…So, in other words, they're going to render to…exercise files/images/name of the layer, and then /the image name.…
