Animating squash and stretch
- [Instructor] Let's talk about squash and stretch. Every object has mass, and when we use squash and stretch, we are exaggerating the fluctuation of mass distribution in an object like a bouncy ball. As it hits the ground, it will flatten out. As it bounces up into the air, it will stretch. We humans do this too, with how we squash and stretch our bodies as we jump or hop. So, how do we animate this squash and stretch in an object? There are plenty of ways, but I will show you a few very common ones. One, by utilizing the scale properties, and two others by utilizing two different warp effects. So, let's start with scale. I'm in my project file, chapter two, 04_Squash & Stretch, and I have my bouncy ball scale layer with the eyeball turned on and positioned keyframes making it bounce up and down with a good little bit of acceleration and deceleration. So, let's look at how to use scale to make it squash and stretch. I'll click in here to just sort of pause playback. Now, I have my…
