Animating with parenting

- Parenting is a relatively simple concept. Now, I'm not talking about trying to raise children, which is not simple at all. But the logic behind parenting in animation is that two things are related. For example, let's take my hand. My fingers are attached to the palm of my hand. Which means that the fingers have a child relationship to the parent of the hand. While the fingers can move individually, if the hand moves, well, then the fingers go along for the ride. The hand can't bend and leave the fingers behind. Similarly, the hand is attached to the forearm. So as all of this starts to move, there's a cause and effect relationship. The movement of the forearm translates to movement in the palm which affects the fingers. Well, the same thing can happen inside of After Effects using the parenting column. Now, let's make a few changes. I'm going to select all my layers and press U, to see all the properties. And let's just turn off these animation properties for a moment. So, nothing…
