Join Ran Ben Avraham for an in-depth discussion in this video Animate the Particular effect's visibility, part of Creating Fire and Brimstone Type Animation Motion Graphics in After Effects.
- [Voiceover] At this point, we would like…to give the front particles system a closer look.…Let's isolate it.…We will also isolate the lava,…beauty, and the sky background.…Now, at the beginning of the scene,…we get actually quite a lot of particles going on.…And as the scene progresses, we…get less and less front particles.…And we would like to have relatively…the same amount of front particles throughout my scene.…So today that will need to animate the far vanish.…
And obviously the far start fade.…Let's go to the start of our composition.…The front particles layer is still selected.…Let's move over to the effects controls.…And we can close the glow here.…And exposure, now let's see.…We'll create a key frame for the far vanish.…And we'll set it to 200.…Maybe 200 is too far so let's say 300.…That's better and let's scroll on the timeline.…
Okay, around this stage we are…actually losing most of the particles.…Let's move it further, okay now let's…go back to our original number, which was 500.…Let's scrub it all, see how it goes.…

5/11/2016In this course, you'll learn to take advantage of these powerful features. The first half of this course uses AE as if it were true 3D software, producing a unique 3D landscape—a volcano spouting fire and brimstone—rendered into several image sequence passes. In the second half, author Ran Ben Avraham shows how to use AE's powerful compositing abilities to combine the render passes, add environment particles, build 3D text, and use a few post-production tricks to produce this "volcanic" scene.
Like all of our project-based learning experiences, each step of the process is rich with object lessons that are applicable to scenarios the motion design artist will face in real-world productions.
