Adjustment layers: Beyond the basics

- In last week's Hidden Gem I covered the basics of how adjustment layers work. In this week's episode, you'll make it more interesting by adding masks and track mattes. If you remember, these were the original layers. And the adjustment layer gets a copy of it to apply effects to. We still have our fast blur and hue saturation effects applied. I've deleted the transform effect and I also returned the adjustment layer to full frame. Because the adjustment layer, is a simple solid, I can select it, and apply a mask. Of course, I could use the pen tool, but I'll just use one of the simple shapes. I'll use the ellipse. If I double click, I'll get a full frame ellipse. You see the original layers behind, and the effects only appear, inside the mask. If I want the opposite behavior, I can select inverted for the mask, and now the effects are applied outside. Might look nice to reduce the saturation to black and white for a custom vignette effect. Especially, if I twirl down mask one, and…
