Join Richard Harrington for an in-depth discussion in this video Adjusting color, part of After Effects Guru: Color Grading Footage.
…Since I brightened this shot, the color is a bit washed about and…what I'm going to do is take advantage of an adjustment, it's called Vibrance.…You'll find it in Photoshop and After Effects…but it's lacking from many other video tools.…And what I like about it is that it's a…bit more selective in how it manipulates the saturation of color.…Let's add a new Adjustment Layer.…And I'll search for a vibrance adjustment,…and add that over.…What I like here is that I can separately boost the vibrance.…And saturation.…
If I toggle that off and on,…I really like how the intensity of the blue has come back through.…And, some of the gold tones in the eagle's crown are visible.…However, as a quick fix, I could apply an auto color adjustment, optionally.…To balance that out a bit.…Looking at the intensity of color there, do you see that the…shot is much more rounded, and I really like how that's coming through.…That auto color adjustment is optional, but it's a…quick way to let After Effects attempt to fix things.…
I'll typically smooth that out a bit as well.…
