Adding lines to improve edges
- Once you got the initial composition put together, you might decide to go through and retrace the Storyboard image digitally. Sometimes painting in extra lines could add some contrast or better define an edge. This is a simple pretty process. I liking it a lot to the comic book art process, where the initial artist draws, and then an inkier goes in, and essentially traces over and adds emphasis, details, and tonality. The pencil image is great, and once it's cleaned up, it looks pretty good. Sometimes going a little bit further can really bring the Storyboard to life, and make it easier to see critical details. Let's continmue to work with this document adding a few extra longs for shading. To do this, I'll make a new empty layer, and we'll call this shade. Now, you can use either your mouse or the tablet to make this easier. I often find that choosing a brush that behaves more like a pencil or pen is going to go a long way.
