- Hi, I'm EJ Hassenfratz and I'll be your host throughout these five-day, motion graphics challenges. As designers and artists, we crave creative outlets that allow us to express ourselves or learn a new technique that helps us get better at our craft. Many times your day job doesn't allow for this or allow for it as much as you prefer to keep yourself relevant in the industry. A very important part of being a designer is keeping up on the newest design trends, techniques and software improvements, because if you aren't, someone else is.
And you'll be left in the dust. The best way to stay fresh creatively, and to increase your skill set, is to just make something, anything. But that's where the issue is. Many people have the best intentions to try and get creating, but always get stuck by the question, "well, what do I create?" The task of then creating, becomes daunting and it's all to easy to ultimately get overwhelmed by the infinite possibilities. And you end up just not creating anything at all.
Now this is where my five day motion graphics challenges come in. They'll narrow your focus and give you a theme to create something from. I invite anyone who wants to sharpen their skills, learn new ones, or just needs a little extra inspiration in order to create, to take on these challenges. Now how these challenges will work, is I'll present a theme and you'll then create a short animated gif based on that theme. And when you're finished with your animation, you'll share it on social media using the hashtag, #5DayMoGraph and post it to the challenges Tumblr page at, http://5daymograph.tumblr.com.
The hardest part of creating is going from creating nothing to creating something. So, let's get going.
