Learn about using the Refine Selection tool to perform a perfect cutout on hair.
- [Instructor] The selection we made with a…quick selection tool isn't bad,…but it's by no means perfect,…especially around the hair area.…To fix this, let's go into our refiner edge mode,…by tapping the bottom of the tools in the selection set.…And it takes a while to load this up.…And here is our selection shown as a dark red overlay.…You can see that the hair has got a ragged edge to it.…
We can fix that by simply dragging over it.…As we drag,…we get a translucent overlay,…and when we release the button,…photo then processes the area that we've dragged over,…and produces a good distinction between…the foreground and the background.…We can make the width of the brush a little larger,…which will suit Zeeteah's wavy hair better.…
And now, as we continue to drag around the edge,…we've simply taken all of those loose strands of hair,…taking in the border between the hair and the background,…and we can even go inside the hair.…When we lift our finger from the iPad,…we now see it's produced a good selection…both inside and outside the hair.…
