- [Instructor] Here's a photograph of a so-called ugly house in Wales, built at the time when, the legend has it, if you could build a house within a single day and send up smoke by the morning, you could own the freehold on which the house was built. Whether or not you believe that, this image is lacking in depth. The shadows are too bright. There's just not enough detail in here. One way we could deal with this would be to use the clarity filter. We'll go to new live filter and choose clarity. And as you drag the radius, you increase the detail, you strengthen those shadows, but you also make the image look rather unreal. It's just too sharp to be comfortable. So let's undo that. And let's get rid of that filter. Here's an old time of an approach. We'll duplicate this layer, and now we'll bring up the threshold adjustment, which turns it to pure black and white. As we drag the threshold slider, we can see more of the image showing through. And we want to balance this where there's…
