Applying the Threshold adjustment

- [Instructor] Here's a very scratchy brick wall, on which I want to place a piece of graffiti. And I'm going to use this image of Marilyn Monroe, it's already a cut out. Let's start by using the Threshold adjustment. We'll go to the Adjustments panel and scroll down to Threshold. And we can see two things immediately, first it is making it much too bright. Well we can fix that, by dragging the slider to the right to darken it up. But also it's affecting the background as well as Marilyn Monroe. And that's because it applies to all layers beneath it. Let's go to our Layers panel again and pick up the Threshold adjustment, and drop it inside the Marilyn layer. And now it only applies to her. We can now select the Marilyn layer and change the mode of this layer from normal to multiply, and that gets rid of all the white, allowing just the black to show through on the wall beneath.
