- [Instructor] Let's take a look at some of the key factors to making a recognizable and memorable app icon. First, your app icon needs to be distinguished. Your app is going to be listed among thousands of other apps, and they're all vying for the same attention. So keep it clean and uncomplicated and use color schemes that make sense and support the soul of your app's function. And lastly, omit overly detailed imagery. So, when you're creating an app icon, usually you are going to create it within the largest size, which will be 1024 by 1024 pixels in the Apple Store, but when you're in the Google Play Store, it'll be 512 by 512 pixels. Now, this is great at a large size, but if you put in a lot of detail and you scale it down to, let's say, 48 pixels by 48 pixels, what'll happen is you'll lose a lot of the detail and the detail will muddle the image overall.
