- [Instructor] Target audiences based on content and context. The goal of programmatic advertising technology is to reach the consumer with highly personalized ads wherever they may be. Without tracking cookies, this becomes focused on contextual placements. This is what is called Impression-based Targeting, and it takes place in a variety of formats. First, it does not have to necessarily rely on data or cookies as it is attempting to reach new audiences. Audiences can be targeted through demographics, and sociographics, contextual and geographical methods. First, demographics. If I were selling car insurance for younger drivers, then I would seek out websites that appeal to that demographic, or selling home insurance, I would look for websites that are used heavily by that demographic, such as home improvement or home and garden websites.
