- [Instructor] Text inputs are ubiquitous on the internet, and if you've ever encountered a form, you've encountered a text input. Designing form elements require taking some of the smallest details into consideration to create a good form experience. Generally speaking, people don't like filling out forms and oftentimes will drop out of the form if it's too long or the data being collected isn't clear. Text inputs, or text fields, are a single-input form that allows users to enter data. They don't work as well for situations in which a user is better off selecting from a list of options rather than entering information directly. Text inputs have four key states: the default state, in which no data has been entered, the active state, in which a cursor has entered the field, and an error state.
