Align and distribute shapes

- In this movie, we will see how we can align our layers. First of all, I want to align our shape layers relative to themselves. So, I'm going to select these three shape layers and then, when I switch to my move tool, we will see the alignment options appear on the tool options bar. So if I want to align their top edges, all I need to do is that. Now there is no such concept in Photoshop as a key object, the way there is in InDesign or Illustrator. Let me just undo that by pressing Command or Control-Z. So if I wanted them all aligned to the tops of the triangle, say, I can't say that that's my key object aligned to that top. It's always going to take the top as being the currently top-most object. So in this, given such a scenario, I would have to do this. And then I would have to move them down back to that point. If I want to align an individual layer to the canvas, so I'm now going to just select the ellipse layer. Let's say I want the ellipse just to be centered on the canvas…
