- [Instructor] While PKI certificates can be used to encrypt files, they can also be used to secure network communications and that's where SSL and TLS come in but we know that we shouldn't use SSL because it's not secure. It's got a lot of known vulnerabilities. In this demonstration, I'll be configuring a web server to use a PKI certificate so that we have encrypted communications so that the user can connect over HTTPS instead of HTTP. The first thing I'll do here on my server and I don't have to do this from the server but that's what I am doing, I'm going to start a web browser and just connect to the URL of the server over HTTP to verify that it's there and that it's running. So this is a Microsoft Internet Information Services web server that I've installed with default settings.
