Embedding an audit trail
- Once you've performed Preflight on a document, you can embed what's called an Audit Trail, and that lists the Preflight profile that was used to examine the file, and it adds a digital signature to protect and verify the results. I'm going to check this file and see if it meets PDF/X-1a standards. So I'll choose Preflight, and then under PDF/X compliance, I'll scroll down until I see it, there it is, "verify compliance with PDF/X-1a". I'll click Analyze, and clearly this file doesn't meet the PDF/X-1a specifications. Now in truth, I could actually fix the file in Acrobat so that it would meet those specs, but I'm going to embed this Audit Trail and send this file back to the designer. I want to make sure that they understand that all the future files need to meet PDF/X-1a standards, and this sort of documents my procedure, and confirms to them that this file doesn't meet those specs.
