- Once you've performed Preflight on a document,…you can embed what's called an Audit Trail,…and that lists the Preflight profile that was used…to examine the file, and it adds a digital signature…to protect and verify the results.…I'm going to check this file and see…if it meets PDF/X-1a standards.…So I'll choose Preflight, and then under PDF/X compliance,…I'll scroll down until I see it, there it is,…"verify compliance with PDF/X-1a".…I'll click Analyze, and clearly this file doesn't…meet the PDF/X-1a specifications.…
Now in truth, I could actually fix the file in Acrobat…so that it would meet those specs,…but I'm going to embed this Audit Trail…and send this file back to the designer.…I want to make sure that they understand…that all the future files need to meet PDF/X-1a standards,…and this sort of documents my procedure,…and confirms to them that this file…doesn't meet those specs.…So here at the lower right, I'll click on Embed Audit Trail,…and it gives me a little dialogue that tells me…really what it's really going to do.…
