Join Claudia McCue for an in-depth discussion in this video Creating a full text index with Catalog, part of Acrobat DC Essential Training.
- Although Acrobat Pro can search fairly quickly…in a long document or even across multiple documents,…if you're going to be frequently searching for content…in large repository of PDFs,…having an index can really speed things up.…Now this isn't like the printed index in the back of a book.…Instead, it's a searchable record…of, well, every single word in a collection of PDFs.…When you create an index, Acrobat searches through…the target documents once,…and then saves those search results…in a file for future reference.…
This means that it doesn't have to perform…that search again the next time you want to find something.…A little advice: before you create an index,…make sure that your files are final.…Try to keep your file names short,…and then make sure that you've updated…any information in the document's properties.…Let me show you how this works.…I'm going to go to tools, scroll down, and choose index.…I'm going to create a full text index with catalog.…Of course, I need to make a new index,…and I'm going to give the index a title.…
