- [Brian] Welcome to Acrobat 9, Creating Forms. My name is Brian Wood, and I'll be your host. Acrobat 9 is a really exciting release for forms, simply because they've completed revamped how forms are done in Acrobat and made it a lot easier. Live Cycle Designer on the Windows platform has a lot of new additions as well. We're going to talk about how to create forms, how to add fields, how to work with things like distributing the files. So join me and we'll take a look at exactly how you can get set up with forms in Acrobat.
Q: How do I force upper case in the Text Field?
A: Here's how you can get a text form field in a PDF to force the text entered into the field to be displayed in upper case format. It is not a "built-in" option and requires you to insert one line of JavaScript code. Here are the steps:
1. Open the PDF form you want to edit in Acrobat Professional.
2. Choose Forms > Add or Edit Fields...
3. Double-Click on the form field you want to edit to open the Text Field Properties dialog box.
4. Click the "Format" tab at the top.
5. Choose "Custom" from the "Select format category" pop-up menu.
6. Click the "Edit" button to the right of the "Custom Keystroke Script" section.
7. Copy and paste this bit of Javascript into the resulting JavaScript Editor window that appears:
9. Choose Forms > Close Form Editing.
Now when you type any text characters into the field you just edited, the characters will be forced to display in upper case.
