- [Chris] Hello, and welcome to the bid recap course in learning construction estimating. In the previous courses you have learned the general tools and concepts of estimating construction, including take off of labor and material items, the extension of your take off, as well as the other components that make up a construction estimate. In this final course we're going to put everything together in order to complete our estimate and review it one more time. This process is called recapitulation, or more simply, bid recap. Some people in the trade also call this closing the bid. Whatever you decide to call it, make sure you do it as accurately as possible. During the process, we will check for math errors, organize our worksheets in a logical order, look at some new direct job costs and pricing factors that we haven't reviewed yet specific to your company that will affect the overall price of the project. We will also look at and build a formal proposal letter, also known as a scope sheet, that could be sent out to prospective customers. If you've completed the earlier courses in becoming a construction estimator and you're ready to finish your estimate, let's begin.
