Learn about vertical measurements or items not easily picked up on a drawing set.
- [Instructor] Don't forget that although most…measurements are horizontal in nature,…that's to say they can be seen and measured…from a standard floor plan,…items such as conduit, piping, duct work,…and others can run vertically.…And that's not always easily seen or identified…on the floor plans.…Count your vertical pieces, or drops as I like to call them,…and add them to your take off sheet.…Here's an example.…I'm going to open up a drawing…that has some symbols for a vertical surface raceway.…
I'm going to count them.…One,…two,…three,…four,…five,…six,…seven.…You'll notice these two look similar…but they're actually different symbols.…Now, I'll go back to my take off sheet…and insert them.…Again, you could type these into an Excel spreadsheet,…if you like, or you could do it by hand…with a piece of paper and a pencil.…
It's up to you.…
