- The cost of construction labor is probably the most significant portion of any construction estimate. It is also the component that carries the most risk. Therefore we should look at labor with a great deal of care and respect to insure that our estimate includes the exact amount of labor that we think we will need that it is priced correctly. Small errors in pricing labor can compound into enormous errors, either costing you money or losing you the project to another bidder. There are different types of skilled labor at a construction site. Each with their own respective labor rates. Here we will talk about employees directly hired by your company and on your payroll doing normal construction tasks your company is usually engaged in. Most construction employees are paid at an hourly rate some earn benefits that have an hourly rate and almost all employers pay an hourly cost associated with employment insurance or taxes.
