Hi there, welcome to the 2nd course in our series, Construction Estimating Takeoff. In this course, we're going to build upon what you have learned about estimating so far, and get right into the nuts and bolts of building an estimate. Takeoff is the process of counting and measuring the job items. It is a critical step in quantifying all the materials on a job, and it's paramount that it be done correctly. Takeoff mistakes can be costly, and will result in problems that will be compounded later in the estimate. So be sure to take your time and double check your work.
We will review the basics of takeoff, and I'll offer a few tips to make it more efficient, and how to avoid common mistakes. Are you ready, let's get started.
