Overview of screen magnifiers

- Some people with low vision need magnification in order to see the screen. They're not completely blind, but may need to magnify the screen in order to be able to read. We're talking in some pretty general terms here but we've done testing before with people that simply bump up the font size in their browser or change their font size on the computer and we've also done testing with people that magnify their screen up to ten times the default size. Magnification software is built into all operating systems these days. Though third party magnification software does exist, it often provides more options than the operating systems provide themselves. One of the challenges with low vision is that when they're magnified, they can only see a small portion of the screen at once. This creates difficulties with orientation, with layouts in multiple columns, and with dynamic content like mobile dialogues or other content that shows and hides on a page.
