Work with joins
- [Narrator] When creating queries that include multiple tables, it's important to understand how those tables are related in order to get meaningful results. Typically, Access will be able to assist you in building these relationships if they've not been previously defined. But there are occasions when you'll need to create or modify how your tables are joined together. Let's take a look at a couple of examples. First though, I'm going to come up to the database tools tab and click on relationships. We can see that in this database we have the customers table that's related to the orders table based off of customer ID field in both tables. We also have a relationship between the customers table and the states table. In the customers table, the field is called state, and in the states table the field is called state abbreviation. I want to remove both of these relationships and see how a query reacts. Let's right click on the joint line and say delete, and then we'll say yes to the…
