Trust the exercise files

- [Instructor] If you have access to the exercise files, then you can download a copy and follow along with these same steps that I'm performing here on the screen. I placed my files here on the desktop, and inside the exercise files folder, you'll see that we have folders for each chapter in the course. Inside of the chapter folders, we have files to start the example with, as well as a completed state of the file at the end of the movie. Now if we go ahead and open up any of these database files for the first time, you'll notice that we get this yellow security warning bar across the top of the screen. By default, Access is going to block active content from running in our databases. You're going to have to go through and press the enable content button on the security bar for each database that you work with. Or an alternate option is to add the exercise files to a list of trusted locations on your computer. To do that, I'll go over here to the file menu and come down to options. Then I'll click on trust center at the bottom of the list, and then the trust center settings button on the right. From here I'll go to trusted locations, and then finally down to the add new location button. Then I'll click the browse button, and head out to my desktop where I've got the exercise files folder. I'll select it and press okay, and then turn on this checkbox that says, sub-folders of this location are also trusted. I'll press okay, and I have a new line here in a user location that trusts the exercise files location. Any databases inside of this folder will automatically be trusted now. I'll go ahead and say okay to that, okay to this menu, and that will return me back into Access. And now we're ready to go with the course.
