Creating a new file

When you are starting a database project you can either start with the pre-designed template and modify it, or you can start from scratch. Once you've opened up Access, you can click right here to open up a brand-new file. Use this Blank Web database icon if you'll be integrating Access with SharePoint. Click on Sample templates, and you can see the database templates Microsoft created to get you started. Click this Back button to get back to your choices. You can also go online to the new Office.com Web site, where there are a variety of templates that you can download to your computer with just a click.

You can see the file size, the rating and a screenshot of the database right here. Let's go back again and choose a blank database. On the lower right-hand side, we need to name our database, erase what's there, and we'll call ours TwoTreesOliveOil.
