If direct relationships between tables don't exist but data needs to be connected, discover how a lookup is created to allow the user to show, for example, all the vendors that sell a product, all the products included in an order, or all the communications sent to a given customer.
- [Instructor] It's really handy to know which products…are sold by which vendors.…It's gonna make it so much easier to print out price sheets,…prepare a quote, or place an order…to beef up your own inventory or just to fulfill…a specific customer order.…To have this product information appear…with your vendor data, we're gonna add a lookup field…to the vendors table, and it's gonna pull…all of the products from the products table…and let us pick the things that each vendor sales.…All right?…Now, I've got the vendors table open in design view already,…and I clicked at the end of the list of fields.…
We're just gonna tack this one on at the end…and I'm gonna call it Products.…It's gonna wanna be short text,…but I'm gonna force it to become a lookup.…So I'm gonna go to the Lookup Wizard,…and I have my two choices.…Do I want it to get the values from another table…or do I want to type the values?…I wanna get them from the products table,…so I'm gonna leave it on that one and choose Next.…And of course, the products table is where…
