- [Voiceover] There are four additional types of queries within Access, collectively called Action Queries. If you go to the create tab and start a new query in Design View, I'll just go ahead and close the Show Table window here, you'll notice that the action queries all have this exclamation mark icon attached to them here. Now we'll take a look at these over the next few movies, starting with the Update Query. Action Queries differ from everything else we've worked with so far in one key area, they actually modify your data tables. In case it's not clear, all of the queries we've run up 'til now simply presented your data, rearranged and reformatted, in temporary tables called Record Sets. All of the actual data tables within your database have remained unchanged throughout this whole process. Action Queries throw that behavior out the window. They permanently modify your data. This can be really powerful when used appropriately or it can make a big mess really fast. So before we…
