Control input with masks
- [Instructor] Access gives us lots of ways to control the input of data into our tables. This helps ensure that what's entered is typed correctly, and often, more importantly, consistently. We can make use of the input mask field property to help make sure that every time we enter in a phone number, it gets formatted properly. Let's go ahead and take a look at that, by opening up the guest table here. I'm gonna switch into design view. Then I'll come down and I'll click anywhere in the phone number field to activate the field properties for the phone number column. One of the properties that I want to look at is called the input mask, which we can find here on the third line. By clicking the cell to the right of the input mask, you'll see a button over here on the far right that appears with three dots. This is called a build button, and we're gonna see this button appear in lots of different places throughout Access. And it indicates that we're gonna build out a property definition.…
