- [Instructor] Brainstorming is the second step in building a database, and it's important because it helps you create the most comprehensive, useful tables from the start, with fewer things to be added after the tables are in use. So what is brainstorming? Brainstorming is really just focused thinking about one idea or subject. It opens your mind to the data you have to store, and it's a process you can do collaboratively or on your own. The process helps you prepare to take action building your database, as it enables you to forecast the forms, queries, and reports you'll need to fully utilize your data. When brainstorming about your database, the process involves three steps. I'll show you each step in detail as we develop an Access database for an imaginary training center.
