Join J. Scott Giaquinta for an in-depth discussion in this video Working with drum loops in Battery, part of EDM Production Techniques: Drums.
…The Ableton Drum Rack isn't the only drum machine type plugin.…I also like to use Native Instruments Battery 4 for some of my programming.…Drum Rack and Battery are essentially the same as far…as functionality, but each of them do things the other doesn't.…For example, Drum Rack doesn't have built-in effects.…You have to use Ableton or third party…plugins, whereas Battery has many of these effects built-in.…It comes down to a matter of inspiration and workflow.…If you find that you enjoy using one over the other, then just go…with your instincts, but try them both just to see what works best for you.…So, I'm going to show you how to import sounds into Battery right now.…
We're going to take old loop.…And we're going to import that into Battery.…So I'm going to create a brand new MIDI track.…I'm going to go Plugins.…I'm going to drag battery 4 down here.…You'll see it opens up not quite to my desktop, but to the home folder.…Click on Desktop > Exercise Files > Samples.…I'm going to open up old loop, and I can just drag this over to the cell.…
