- I treat the bass group pretty similarly…to how I approach using the plug-ins…on my drums group in terms…of having maybe a touch of saturation…followed by the limiter,…and then with a gain plug-in afterwards,…always doing that reduction of 20 db.…What I find is after I have my side chain…compression applied, which is a huge part…of dance music, which is my LFOTool here,…right after my gain plug-in,…I will always have that after my utility…or my gain plug-in because that gives me…much cleaner result having a side chain…compressor like this acting…after the utility or the gain plug-in,…whatever you choose to use.…
And also, you never run the risk…of overloading side chain compressor…because if you're running something…right after the limiter,…you still have the chance of running…maybe too hot of a signal…into a side chain compressor…if you're not using LFOTool.…It's just for the peace of mind…that I never have to worry…about overloading the side chain…so that I get the cleanest sound…of ducking the bass under my kick drum.…
