- [Instructor] The second type of Live rack that we'll look at is the instrument rack. These types of racks allow you to group and save a virtual instrument, with audio effects, and even midi effects as a single preset. Additionally, they create a simple way to layer synth parts. So let's take a look at how Live's racks can be used to combine multiple instruments and effects on a single track. So let's open up exercise two from chapter 13. And we'll start with this first mellow pad track. Now, down here in device view, you'll notice that we have three devices. We've got Ableton's new wave table virtual instrument plug-in, and an EQ, and then over here on the right we've got a chorus plug-in. Now, if I want to save these as a single preset, I just need to select the title bar of one of the devices and then shift click over here on the end to select all three devices.
