EQ and filters
- [Instructor] Equalizers or EQs are devices that can be used to shape tone and help a track fit in a mix. Let's take a closer look at EQs, learn about their basic parameters, and discuss a method for deciding when and how to use them. So let's go ahead and open up exercise two from chapter 10 and I'm going to go over into the audio effects category and I'm going to grab the EQ Eight plugin and I'm going to drag and drop that on to the kick track. Now let's start by mentioning that the EQs that you see in programs like Ableton Live are commonly referred to as parametric EQs and they're divided up into a number of bands. For example, the EQ Eight gives us a maximum of eight bands that we can work with. Now right now only four are enabled, because these blue buttons on the bottom here and you'll see the ones over here for bands five through eight are disabled.
