Join Phil Japikse for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the begin and end files, part of Getting Started with Entity Framework 6.1.3.
- [Instructor] The course comes with Exercise Files and I've downloaded them here. We open them up, you'll see three things of note. First and foremost, there's the introtoentityframework6.bak. That is a SQL Server database backup. It's a 2014 database but it'll reload into 2016, as well. And you're going to need to restore that and we'll go through that exercise together. And there's two other folders, Begin and End. So what I've done here in the Begin is created two projects, Data Access Library and Data Access Library Tests.
And they're all in one solution called IntroToEF6. Now if you open this solution now, it will not compile because we haven't written a lot of the code that we need to. But what I've done is created a lot of the plumbing. And we're going to talk about it but I'm not going to sit here and type it in front of you. The other folder is the End folder and, surprising enough, it is exactly the same as the Begin. The difference is that the code is completed. So the only thing that you will have to change to run this is the connection string and we will work through all that together.
Once again, all these files are in the download that comes along with the course.
