Join Brian Bradley for an in-depth discussion in this video mr Area Omni and mr Area Spot, part of Learning mental ray in 3ds Max.
…For the sake of completeness in our coverage of the key lighting tools…available when rendering with Mental Ray in 3DS Max.…We want to take a few minutes in this video,…to discuss a couple of somewhat unique options that are available to us,…in the form of the Mental Ray area Omni, and area Spot light types.…Now it may surprise you to hear me say that we will be covering only a very…small percentage of the features available on these light types in this video.…This, though, is not due to any negligence on my part, but…is rather down to the fact that, in almost every way,…these Mental Ray lights, as they are named, are identical to the Spot and…Omni lights that have been available in 3DS Max for the longest time now.…And so, have been covered in some detail,…in other 3DS Max courses here on lynda.com.…What we will focus on in this video then,…is the feature that makes them unique for use with Mental Ray.…Now just as a word of caution, these lights will work,…that is they will give illumination and…create shadows, should we use them when rendering with the Scanline engine.…
