- [Instructor] One of the newer additions to the V-Ray family of materials that got a lot of people excited at the time of its introduction, not only because of its ability to create exceptionally realistic skin type materials but also because of its general versatility in other areas as well was the V-Ray AL surface material. The AL in the shader's name for those who may not know actually referring to Anders Langlands, a VFX artist and supervisor who quite some time ago now wrote a whole series of AL name shaders for the Arnold renderer, which is of course now the major and default render engine found in 3D S max. His idea in producing these was that he felt they better suited his own VFX needs more than those found in annulled by default, with one of the most used in this group of shaders that he created being the AL surface option.
