Join Brian Bradley for an in-depth discussion in this video What you should know before watching this course, part of Learning mental ray in 3ds Max.
Throughout this course, I'm going to be making a concerted effort to keep you informed as to tool locations and keyboard shortcuts as I access and make use of them. I will, to some extent, though, be working with the assumption that you have at least a basic working knowledge of 3DS Max. Meaning that you are familiar with the user interface in general and that you know how to perform everyday tasks inside the application. If you are new to 3DS Max, then I would recommend that you check out some of the great 3DS Max titles already found here on lynda.com.
Perhaps focusing initially on the essential training titles. You will also find that some basic knowledge of photography and perhaps Photoshop compositing can help make some of the tools and terminology used in this course a little more relatable. Now, whilst such skills can be helpful, they are by no means essential in order for you to work through and thoroughly benefit from this Up and Running With Mental Ray in 3DS Max course.
