Join Brian Bradley for an in-depth discussion in this video VFB and global controls, part of Learning mental ray in 3ds Max.
…In this particular video, I just want to highlight the quick access controls that…are available when rendering with the mental ray engine.…The controls we're talking about are found on the 3Ds…Max rendered frame window itself.…Now, as soon as we pull that window up by going to either the Rendering menu and…choosing the Render Frame Window option, or by hitting the icon up on the main…toolbar, probably the first thing that will catch our eye is the large block of…controls that can be found attached to the bottom of the frame.…
These are mental ray specific controls.…If we were to switch over to using any of the other render engines available in 3Ds…Max we would simply see these disappear.…The purpose of this block is to give us access to quick and…easy sliders that control a number of mental ray quality settings.…Settings that can,…of course, also be altered from inside the Render Setup dialogue itself.…We have an Image Precision slider, which is a little unfortunately named,…in my opinion, as it really controls our image sampling quality.…
