V-Ray IPR modes: Part 1
- [Man] Perhaps one of the more confusing additions to the V-Ray tool set at the time of its introduction, was the Interactive Production Rendering, or IPR for short, mode that was added to the V-Ray frame buffer window, simply because in many ways it appeared to essentially be the same thing as V-Ray RT known these days as V-Ray GPU which of course it wasn't. The confusion seemed to stem mostly from the fact that both could render in an interactive manner even though they did differ significantly in a number of key areas. So firstly V-Ray RT was a completely separate render engine as V-Ray GPU still is whilst the IPR mode in V-Ray was just that, an alternative operating mode of the V-Ray CPU engine. And of course, secondly, because it was a separate renderer RT worked by exporting the scene or translating it for rendering.
