Using the exercise files

- [Instructor] If you have access to the exercise files that I've created for this course, go ahead and download those and extract them to a convenient location on your hard drive. Here I've placed them simply on the Windows desktop. If you don't have access to the exercise files, you can still complete the course using your own assets and creating them as you go. Even if you don't have 3ds Max in front of you. For example, if you're on a mobile device, you can still learn by observation and note taking. The exercise files folder is a 3ds Max project folder structure, and in chapter one I'll show you how to point 3ds Max at a project folder or to create your own. Let's take a look at the various types of assets in here. 3ds Max, like many 3D programs, relies on a project folder structure to track the various types of assets. For example, in the scenes folder, we will see 3ds Max.max scene files that store models and animations and so on. Usually there's one scene file per movie representing the state of that movie at its beginning. Sometimes there will be a finished example that represents what that scene should look like at the end of the movie. Additionally, in scene assets, we'll see under images a few bitmap images that are applied onto surfaces and the scene environment. Because this is an introductory course, the asset list is pretty short and in fact most of these folders are empty. Those are the exercise files that are included with the course.
