Join Steve Nelle for an in-depth discussion in this video Using CATMotion footprints, part of 3ds Max 2011 New Features.
Once you've got a character walking using CATMotion, you can control just…exactly where that rig goes using a couple of different techniques.…I'll use a file named CATMotion Walking rig to show you a few of the options.…Now, the first thing we are going to want to do is to select our rig.…Then get to the Motion column in the Command panel.…Once we are there, in the Layer Manager, we'll drop down below the window on the…left-hand side, adding the CATMotion layer.…Once we've done that, we can turn on Animate mode and play things back. Okay.…
So far so good.…We'll stop the play and take things back to the beginning.…The next step will be to open up the CATMotion Editor.…You can find that directly to the right of the Layer Color control.…Now, we can move that to the side, and in the dialog on the left-hand side,…we'll click on Globals.…Now, over on the right, we have a category called Walk mode.…We'll change that from Walk On Spot to Walk On Line.…Then once we've done that, we can go ahead and play things back again.…
