Understanding maps

- [Narrator] Next we need to understand maps. We know the basics of it, right? We plug in maps in certain aspects of a material and you control through that image how that aspect of the material will work. But we have black-and-white maps that are really important and sometimes because people don't understand what that image, what that black-and-white image means then they can make decisions that won't work as well as they could, for the materials. So let's just quickly understand what those information means. We have a few maps that receive black-and-white information. And I'll just name a few but there are many more, depending on the rendering agent that you're using. You have Specular maps, you have Opacity maps that we used in a few lessons before.
