Specifying display units
- [Voiceover] Before you build anything in a 3D scene, you really need to establish a scale convention and build your objects to that scale. If you don't do that, then you're going to have major problems later. For example, let's say you're not paying attention to scale, and you build a character and it's 50 feet tall in the virtual environment here, and then in a different scene, you build a house and it's an inch tall, and you try to merge or combine those scenes, then obviously, they're at disparate scales. And that's going to be a problem. You might think you'd be able to just scale one or the other to match, but in many cases, that doesn't work. If you have a rigged character, for example, a lot of times, they won't scale properly. You'll be in a lot of trouble, and you may actually have to trash all of your work and start over again.
