Define Brush preferences.
[Instructor] In addition to the paint options…to control the size and strength of the brush,…we also have a window that let's us control…the actual shape of the brush.…Let's take a look.…I'll select the train object,…and in the freeform tab of the modeling ribbon,…activate push/pull,…I've got a size of eighty,…strength of one and offset of ten.…Go into the paint options and activate brush options.…
And this opens up a window that's kind of antique…but it gives us the ability to change the…actual brush shape.…To demonstrate, I'll drag in place to create…a default brush shape.…You can't just hold the mouse down,…you have to actually click and drag…and keep the mouse moving in order to,…sort of draw in place.…And we can see that it resembles the "S" curve seen here.…So that's our brush profile, that's the center…of the brush and the edge of the brush.…
And there are some presets down here,…we can try a linear preset.…And it's hard to see with the grid-lines here,…but we have a curve that has a constant value of one.…

Learn how to get around the 3ds Max interface and customize it to suit your preferences. Discover how to model different objects using splines, polygons, subdivision surfaces, and freeform sculpting. Then, learn to construct hierarchies, add cameras and lights, and animate with keyframes. Author Aaron F. Ross also takes an in-depth look at materials and texture mapping, as well as options for rendering engines such as Arnold and ART.
