Mapping a material parameter
- [Instructor] Texture mapping, or simply mapping, is the process of varying some material parameter across a surface. In this case, we will map the base color of this physical material to apply some stripes to the propeller. I've already got the Material Editor open, and I'm displaying the parameters of this drone propeller physical material. Let's enlarge the size of the preview on the node. Double-click on the preview, or the little sample sphere, and now that's quite a bit larger, so we can get a better sense of what that material's going to look like. There are many ways to add a map or otherwise build a shading network. The Material/Map Browser on the left is open by default, and it's an easy way to create new nodes. But since there are so many ways to create nodes, right now the only reason I would need the browser is to access scene materials or sample slots. It's actually taking up space, and the re-rendering…
